National Nostalgia: A Powerful Concept Untapped by the Left

In this presentation, Denise Baron outlines what national nostalgia is, why it's powerful in political communications, and how the left could use it to connect with more voters.

She delivered this presentation via Zoom on 15 December 2020 to political and academic colleagues. Denise began researching this topic in 2015 during the Brexit referendum in the UK and the Presidential Election in the US. Since then, it's become a more popular topic in social psychology, and her work has expanded into a larger project with Dr. Sandra Obradovic, including a study conducted right before the US Presidential Election in November 2020.
